Packed offers convenient, tasty, and nutritious preassembled school lunches for kids and teachers alike. Packed's model allows individuals to preorder and prepay for meals of their choosing, which are then prepared, personalized and delivered directly to the school where they'll be consumed. Kids are treated like customers in a restaurant, empowered by making their own food choices and getting customized servings. And as a benefit to families, Packed lunches eliminate the headache of lost or dirty lunch boxes Parents and school staff can have peace of mind that kids are getting everything their brains and bodies need to be happy and well-nourished.
In the spring of 2024, the Packed lunch program was piloted at a private school in Lexington. By the end of the pilot, Packed was serving over half of eligible students every week. Packed is launching in multiple schools at the start of the 2024-2025 school year, and plans to continue to expand to more schools throughout the year. More details can be found at lunchispacked.com.
About the RoleAs the Kitchen Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of Packed’s production and delivery workstreams. You will manage the execution and optimization of order assembly, packaging, labeling, and delivery to schools. You will work closely with the kitchen team, the CEO, and the Hunsicker team to ensure high quality products, order accuracy, productivity, efficiency, safety, compliance, and ongoing process improvements.
When you join the team, Packed will be in its first full year of operation. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and contribute to the greater goals of the business, knowing that some of your specific responsibilities may shift as the business grows. Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial kitchen experience
  • Licensed Food Manager
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and the remaining Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience overseeing team workflows and directing individuals on daily tasks

Role SpecificsThis can be a part time or  full time position, depending on availability of the individual. This will be an in-person position to be based primarily out of Packed’s commercial kitchen facility in Lexington, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will begin ASAP, ideally by 8/5/24.
