VP, Retail BDO

The Business Development Officer Team Leader (BDOTL) is responsible for leading and managing a team of Business Development Officers (BDOs) who are responsible for developing new commercial deposit, lending & cash management relationships. In addition, this position is also responsible for personally contributing to the team’s commercial goals and expectations. The BDOTL ensures that the BDOs are actively involved in the business communities that the bank serves and that they are identifying and cultivating quality Center of Influences (COIs) that refer new profitable commercial relationships to the bank. The BDOTL is responsible for ensuring joint collaboration with the Commercial & Industrial (C & I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) departments to achieve common goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and executes an annual strategic business plan focused on the acquisition of new profitable commercial deposit, loan and cash management relationships with a key emphasis on commercial non-interest-bearing deposit growth
- Works with BDOs to identify, cultivate and leverage strong COIs for quality commercial deposit, loan and cash management referrals
- Creates a strong business development focus for the BDO team on C & I companies with revenues greater than $5mm and on targeted key industries identified by Director of Retail and ensure that the BDO team consistently executes the business plan tactics to drive commercial non-int bearing deposits, other core commercial deposits, commercial loans and cash management fee income
- Works closely with the Director of Retail Banking, C & I, CRE and Marketing to proactively develop, implement and evaluate business campaigns that will drive desired results
- Promotes professional growth of employees through planned development activities and experiences for succession advancement
- Conducts a minimum of one (1) monthly staff meeting that brings together the BDO team and the business lines that work with and/or support the BDO team to discuss activities, results and any corrective measures that need to be taken
- Implements and manages a business production pipeline for the BDO team, which includes themselves.
- Ensures all BDOs are actively involved in the right community & business organizations to drive branding and results
- Ensures that monthly observational coaching is conducted throughout the month recapped by a formal monthly coaching session for each BDO. Manages and ensures the timely execution of the performance management process where needed
- Responsible for managing the development and submission of the BDO team annual budget
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly leads and manages the team of Business Development Officers to achieve production goals. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's policies which includes human resource and sales & performance management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
College Degree, or equivalent related business experience.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years business development experience in a dynamic sales culture.
Excellent communication, organizational and sales management skills required.
Excellent customer service/interpersonal skills required.
Proficiency with various software programs including word processing, spreadsheet and banking software required.
Skills & Training:
Strong leadership and management skills
Solid business development skills
Solid interpersonal skills
Strong verbal, written & presentation skills
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements
Knowledge of bank policy and procedures
Strong knowledge of the bank’s commercial products & services
Willingness to work flexible hours based upon need
