The Job

ESG (Environment, Social, Governance)

  • Develop and manage a global ESG program that addresses sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and health and safety for QPS Holdings and its subsidiaries.
  • Create and update climate change policies, measure and reduce carbon emissions, and set effective carbon reduction targets based on current climate science.
  • Formulate policies related to ethical, sustainable, and environmental practices, while staying informed about sustainability trends and their impact on QPS’s global strategy.
  • Prepare essential sustainability disclosures, such as Payments to Government and Modern Slavery statements, and engage with ESG rating agencies to improve ratings and feedback.
  • Oversee social investment initiatives, including charitable donations and environmental programs, and assess the effectiveness of sustainability efforts.
  • Develop strategies for energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, and other sustainability areas, and establish systems for evaluating these efforts.
  • Assist in creating sustainability reports, presentations, and proposals for stakeholders, and support the coordination of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan for QPS Holdings and its subsidiaries.

SH&E (Safety, Health, Environment)

  • Supports SH&E direction across all business areas, ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., RCRA) and alignment with QPS policies.
  • Acts as a liaison with OSHA, EPA, and state agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Ensures SH&E licenses, certificates, and reports (e.g., Tier II, Infectious Waste Reports) are completed and submitted on time.
  • Assists in risk assessments when new hazards are introduced, working with laboratory management and client companies.
  • Helps develop, implement, and maintain SH&E programs, including biosafety, chemical hygiene, and waste management.
  • Reviews and updates SH&E policies and procedures to stay compliant with regulations and organizational changes.
  • Coordinates employee SH&E training, annual fire drills, and fire department visits.
  • Participates in Monthly Safety Committee meetings, helps investigate accidents and near misses, and supports OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Assists with SH&E inspection programs, industrial hygiene, and safety data sheets.
  • Supports the development of annual safety competencies for lab groups and monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Responds to safety concerns and emergencies related to facilities.

Work Location

  • This job may be partially home-office based, up to 2 days per week - local candidates preferred. Hybrid schedule will be negotiated between employee and department head. (see Telecommuting Policy for full details)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Passion for ESG initiatives; knowledge of initiatives such as the Task Force on Climate-Related Disclosures, Sustainable Development Goals and the Value Reporting Foundation, a plus
  • Knowledge of ESG ratings and indices, a plus
  • Demonstrated laboratory safety experience helpful - SLS(ASCP) certification preferred (specialist in laboratory safety)
