OVERVIEW

The Communications Electronics (CE) Technician Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems. Candidate must possess strong working knowledge and understanding of Communications Electronics principals.

Must be prepared to demonstrate a deep understanding of High Frequency and Satellite Radio Communications maintenance practices, setup and operation of Public Address systems, and mass notification system operation and maintenance.

Using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer-controlled equipment, Communications Electronics technician must be able to expertly demonstrate competency in performing such tasks as circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow.

Shall be able to explain and demonstrate application of testing, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment. In addition, the Communications Electronics Technician will demonstrate expertise in planning, design, and integration of Communications Electronics systems, coordinating their efforts with other contractors and subcontractors, and possess effective oral and written communications skills.

DUTIES

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify and analyze performance of fixed and transportable, High Frequency (HF) and Satellite (AFSAT) transmitters, receivers, transceivers, and related equipment
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify and analyze performance of Installation Mass Notification and Warning Systems and related equipment
  • Set up, operate, and maintain audiovisual equipment, LCD portable projection equipment, portable and fixed public-address amplifiers, speakers, and wireless microphones
  • Determine locations and density of circuitry, evaluate electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes to antennas, transmission cables, and wiring

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Air Force Specialty Code 2E173 (or other military equivalent) or anassociate degree in Electronics Technology and 5 years of civilian practical experience
  • Must possess a Secret Security Clearance at time of hire
