Opportunity:
Life Surge seeks a Public Relations/Communications Specialist to join our growing corporate communications team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and execution of a corporate PR strategy, as well as creating and producing highly effective marketing, brand, sales, and product copy. They will work with the PR/Communications Manager on multiple projects, including crafting creative strategies, concepts, messaging, scripts, slogans, taglines, descriptions, illustrations, etc. that drive better business performance. You should be a good storyteller with excellent writing skills, substantive experience engaging traditional and online media, and have a passion for communicating to influence audiences and inspire action. You will be an essential partner in overseeing public relations and internal communications. 

Responsibilities:

Public Relations/Reputation Management (60%)   

  • Pitch and maintain relationships with key consumer and trade press with a focus on local markets (on average, we enter a new market every 2-3 weeks).   
  • Develop product storytelling around our events and brands.   
  • Lead media relations outreach for crucial corporate activities (executive, leadership, business, and corporate announcements).   
  • Write high-quality PR materials, including pitches, press releases, Q&A/FAQs, contributed articles, and keynote presentations.   
  • Evangelize our corporate narrative and develop content that favorably shapes the perception of Life Surge as an industry leader and employer of choice.   
  • Oversee an editorial calendar of PR opportunities and moments, including bylined articles, blog and social media content, speaking engagements, and award/list submissions.   
  • Build, maintain and manage a positive online presence and reputation.    
  • Facilitate strategies to maximize the impact of positive online content and minimize the impact of negative online content.   
  • Investigate the situation and facts relating to criticisms or negative comments and develop appropriate responses.   
  • Coordinate monthly reviews and performance reporting of online content.   
  • Execute offline and online techniques to promote positive or neutral comments.   
  • Analyze online statistics and overall trends and subsets by site, rating, and keyword to identify ongoing trends and potential mitigation solutions.   
  • Prevent and repairing online reputation threats.   

Copywriting (40%)    

  • Proactively understand and gain knowledge of our brands, target audiences, and competitor activities, and how to write copy most effectively for our needs.  
  • Develop creative ideas and concepts, often in partnership with the PR/Communications Manager  
  • Write clear, persuasive, original copy, scripts, slogans, taglines, descriptions, illustrations, presentations, etc. through the various iterations of the project.  
  • Execute copy across multiple channels and platforms, translating marketing and business objectives into clear creative ideas that can be executed and delivered on time.  
  • Continuously write copy and analyze test results to improve copy performance.  
  • Audit, revise or redevelop advertisements or campaigns in response to feedback from marketing team, and other stakeholders.  
  • Use campaign performance data to understand the effectiveness of campaigns and apply key learnings to future campaigns.   
  • Contribute outstanding writing skills, understanding and mastering various brand voices and styles. 
  • Deliver delivering projects on schedule, meeting deadlines. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 

  • Strong media relations skills and a passion for corporate PR  
  • Ability to bring an outside-in perspective to media relations to achieve consistent top-tier results.   
  • A strong writing background with a demonstrated ability to develop communications materials that influence and inspire action.   
  • Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, working proactively with superior attention to detail.   
  • Flexible, adaptable, and open to thrive in a start-up environment.   
  • Current knowledge of digital communications and technical writing 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or related discipline   
  • 5+ years of corporate communications, PR agency, or copywriting experience.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.   
  • Strong digital proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite.   
  • Attention to detail.   
  • Strong time management skills.   
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.   
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
