Title: Manager/Sr. Manager, Compliance & Supplier Quality

Primary Tasks:

Supplier, Ingredient & Co-Packer Verification, Approval & Performance Assessments

  • Responsible for the supplier, facility & material verification and approval processes for new and existing suppliers.
  • Manage supplier documentation, including certifications and audits.
  • Manage onboarding of suppliers to Golding’s QA requirements to ensure conformance to specifications, regulatory requirements, and food safety.
  • Work cross-functionally on supplier score carding, risk assessments, supplier audit/visit calendars & checklists.
  • Collaborate with Innovation on product & specification development.
  • Review and approve product documentation, technical files, procedures & work instructions.
  • Lead and participate in initiatives to trend and analyze supplier & material performance and finished product performance.
  • Participate in mock recalls, crisis assessments, and challenge events, including food fraud & food defense/security.

Customer & Consumer Complaints

  • Lead the customer/consumer complaint process from a FSQA perspective.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally as required.

Systems Management

  • Act as lead/project manager for FSQA systems implementations & integrations as needed, including TraceGains & ERP systems.
  • Lead the design and implementation of dashboards and reporting across systems.
  • Collaborate with and direct teams from various functions to ensure that FSQA systems are well-executed and delivering the necessary data for decision making.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Conduct a FSMA 204 assessment and lead initiatives to ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the area of food labeling regulations as it relates to reviewing and approving labels for the US, Mexico, and Canada.
  • Evaluate, substantiate, and approve product claims.
  • Update and provide expertise on existing FSQA & regulatory programs, including FSMA Rule 204 compliance; suggest, develop and implement new programs as needed.
  • Advise plant operations & executive leadership teams on relevant FSQA & regulatory matters and suggest/lead continuous improvement initiatives as appropriate.

Chain of Command:

  • Reports to VP of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must have a strong understanding of diverse plant processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Major role in writing, and implementing food safety, security, HACCP, environmental, and quality programs and policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all group systems, guidelines & policies of private label and co-packers.
  • Maintain knowledge of food safety, food labeling regulations, HACCP, current industry issues, and innovative technology regarding food and packaging products.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing food products, including FSMA.
  • Actively participate in FSQA/compliance-based professional groups and associations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science-related field with expertise in data systems.
  • 5+ experience in a food safety/quality role with emphasis on regulatory affairs and consumer package label compliance.
  • Knowledge of analytics, systems, platforms, and tools, including QMS, PLMS, and nutrition generation/management systems.
  • Solid background knowledge of FDA and FTC regulations applicable to food labeling.
  • HACCP & PCQI certification preferred.
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with all levels within the organization and with suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Other:

  • Position location: Prefer on-site in Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Infrequent domestic travel.
