Summary

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing supplies and products. S/he will also validate and reconcile the MRP system and production reports. In addition, the Inventory Control Clerk should identify part shortages and implement recovery plans.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicate constraints to schedule
  • Performs shop order release/closure in MRP System and reconcile parts
  • Prepare work orders for the production of parts based on inventory requirements
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activity with stockroom, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, and shipping
  • Schedule and expedite the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders
  • Work cross functionally to expedite any material shortages with purchasing, receiving, quality, and other production areas
  • Implement material stocking strategy and maintain proper floor stock
  • Monitor the velocity of the disposition of NCMR’s
  • Enter material transactions in ERP system
  • Process scrap and obsolete inventory as required
  • Prepare for, conduct and assist in reconciliation of cycle counts
  • Work with Production and Purchasing teams to resolve part discrepancies
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Ability to write reports, and business correspondence.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Ability to successfully work in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to effectively present information via spreadsheets, and computer software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to timely respond to questions from managers, production supervisors, production personnel and customers.
  • Must possess good organizational skills, the ability to work well with others, and good decision making skills
  • Able to demonstrate and apply continuous improvement tools

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree, Certificate Program or advanced education and/or training strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years prior experience working in the capacity of inventory or similar experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment required.
