Quality Control Manager

Position Summary:
The Quality Control Manager position is responsible for managing the inspection and testing of materials, parts, products and assembly procedures to ensure adherence to established quality standards; proposes corrective actions to improve compliance with quality specifications; develops and implements new or improved quality control methods, procedures, and/or standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the engineering department and our suppliers to establish and document quality specifications for our products.
- Inspect finished product to specifications on detailed drawings located on an I-Pad.
- Inspect completed orders to their job order request forms.
- Inspect incoming parts and assemblies as needed.
- Schedules inspections on incoming goods and finished products, to be carried out by quality team members. This position would help with these inspections as time permits.
- Monitor, inspect and verify that work processes are being followed as specified.
- Train team members in the quality expectations of Satellite and our customers.
- Communicate and trouble shoot with team members and suppliers in regard to quality.
- Implements audits throughout the supply chain, ensuring quality standards, safety and legal requirements, and company policies and specifications are met.
- Collaborates with suppliers, engineering, assemblers, warehouses, sales and customers to identify and resolve problems with delivered products. Develops processes and documentation to prevent these problems going forward.
- Conducts or assists with performance and failure analysis of defective products or materials; identifies, recommends, and executes corrective actions.
- Provides quality engineering support for assemblers at our warehouses and at customer sites.
- Provides technical and administrative support and guidance to direct and indirect reports.
- Develops and maintains a system to track and report on projects and results of quality awareness programs and initiatives.
- Drafts and maintains quality assurance policies and procedures, working with team members and suppliers to ensure these specifications are met.
- Recommends and implements procedures to establish or improve quality standards, process controls, and inspection methods.
- Analyzes and helps to establish and improve manufacturing engineering policies, processes, documentation, and secondary operations used by our suppliers.
- Develops and implements strategies to improve quality of products across all our product lines.
- Oversees data collection, analysis, and other research for quality projects.
- Develops procedures for product returns, reimbursement from suppliers, evaluation of returned products, and action plan for improvement.
- Be willing to accept projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains Quality Control Specialist.
- Oversees the work and assignments of the quality team.
- Corporate level Quality Management for all 4 divisions of Satellite.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science degree in a related field is required.
- At least eight years of experience in quality engineering, at least two years in management, required.
- At least two years experience working with plastic molded products, preferably blow-molded or thermoformed products.
- Six Sigma experience is a plus.
- Broad experience using measurement and inspection tools.
- Broad experience developing and documenting all forms of quality specifications including dimensional tolerancing, process steps, assembly instructions, surface finishes, color matching, wall thicknesses, etc.
- Must have a good to intermediate skill level with Microsoft Suite products and the ability to rapidly learn an operating software system.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills are required.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the use of typical office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and scanners. Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
