Position Summary

The primary role of an Engineer 1 is to monitor, maintain, repair and carry out the preventive maintenance program on the hotel’s HVAC, lighting, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchen and laundry equipment, and painted surfaces of building structure, furniture and equipment throughout the hotel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and related equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot maintenance problems. Make repairs as needed: Replace compressors, mechanical seals, re-pack pumps and valves, replace bearings and belts and check for proper alignment, repair fan coil units, make minor sheet metal repairs, braze and solder, calibrate controls, work on pressure vessels, replace piping and fittings, repair and/or repair supply and exhaust fan motors.
  • Ensure all safety systems are operable.
  • Visually inspect gauges, dials, mechanical equipment and record readings in a legible and orderly manner.
  • Prepare and paint surfaces of building structure, furniture and equipment using proper application techniques, various products.
  • Ensure that job site is clean and orderly after completion of all jobs.
  • Respond to guest room calls in a positive, timely and efficient manner.
  • Accurately keep records on assigned tasks according to standard operating procedures.
  • Follow all policies and procedures put forth by the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

3 years related experience and/or training.

Hotel experience preferred.

Business levels may require fast work pace and must be able to work under pressure.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Engineering staff may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel, including overtime and changing hours.
