Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for HAMR DOE characterization: performance and reliability assessment. Interface with wafer process, design, test development, backend process and DOE teams to close the DOE learning cycle. Provide timely and accurate feedback for improving HAMR technology.
  • Responsible for HAMR wafer DOE characterization. Give feedback to wafer and design team regarding HAMR performance/MH/reliability.
  • Understand recording physics and HAMR limiting factors for performance and reliability.
  • Work with test development team to come up with innovative test procedure to tackle HAMR related challenges.  
  • In depth data analysis of DOE testing data, extract key learning information.  
  • Work together with wafer, design, backend team to carry out DOE evaluation smoothly.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • PhD + 3 years or MS + 5 years experience in EE, Physics or related field.
  • Experience in HAMR technology is preferred.
  • Proficient in analysis of large data sets.

SKILLS

  • Good communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Strong awareness of project timelines.
  • Team oriented with ability to interface with technical experts in a matrix environment

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
