Job Title: R&D Engineer - Optical System Design for HAMR

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design of the optical system for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). The successful candidate will have a strong background in optical design and experience with planar waveguides, mode converters, laser diodes, and near-field transducers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop the optical system for HAMR, including planar waveguides, mode converters, laser diodes, and near-field transducers.
  • Characterize the optical system and initiate and develop intellectual property.
  • Publish and present scientific results at conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Industrial experience is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: modeling of planar lightwave circuits, modeling of plasmonic devices, and design of optical characterization tools for optical devices.

Skills:

  • Ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
