HOW WILL YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

As our Natural Disaster and Mental Health Community Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of community outreach, attending public events, festivals, health department meetings, and more to distribute flyers and provide resources about natural disaster relief and mental health counseling. You will support tornado disaster victims and assist the Senior Director of the Crisis System with the oversight of services for the Tennessee Recovery Project (TRP). Your day will involve conducting follow-up calls within 24 hours to individuals contacting the Disaster Hotline, offering crisis assessment, counseling, linkage, and other services to individuals in mental health crises, including those with alcohol and/or drug abuse problems. You will work face-to-face with clients to resolve their crises and provide intervention and referrals in the least restrictive environment. When dispatched or when clients present to a walk-in center, you will complete evaluations and data entry efficiently to meet standards. Follow-up phone calls within 24 hours will ensure clients understand follow-up instructions or accept referrals, providing them with the support they need in a timely manner.


WHAT TYPE OF CANDIDATE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're looking for a full- or part-time Natural Disaster and Mental Health Community Coordinator who can meet the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical field, such as social work, counseling, psychology, or a relative field
  • Clinical experience
  • Knowledge of commitment procedures and additional resources
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and function well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a courteous, diplomatic, and helpful orientation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Reliable transportation

Being licensed or the eligibility to become licensed in the state of Tennessee as well as the ability to become a Mandatory Prescreening Agent (MPA) is preferred but not required
