Licensed Veterinary Technician

The licensed Veterinary Technician assists veterinarians in providing care to animals, performing tasks such as physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations and euthanasia, while also educating clients and maintaining inventory. The role involves seeing their own appointments for non-doctor required procedures, including suture removals, vaccine administration, and boarding entrance exams. The technician must have knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, diseaswes and preventative healthcare practices. Flexibility in work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required. The Veterinary Technician works under the direct supervision of the Veterinary Technician Supervisor and Veterinarians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, reporting any violations and/or safety hazards.
- Venepuncture and catheter placement.
- Induction and monitoring of anesthesia
- Radiography
- Preparation of surgical packs, including sterilization
- Animal restraint and handling (including large animal)
- Stock and maintain medical supplies
- Prepare and clean rooms for events
- Lab/event support as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the facility
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Animal husbandry
- Administer medications as needed
- All duties included and not limited to the statues put forth by The Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be a current Licensed Veterinary Technician
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook required.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Strong motivational and staff leadership skills.
- Judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; editing work for spelling and grammar.
- Advanced ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
- Fully embrace, embody, and uphold the organizational Mission and Vision.
- Ensure strong collaborative relationships within the organization and provide necessary support to ensure solid relationships externally, to foster and consistently elevate the quality of service to our employees.
- Represent the organization and its interests in a positive manner and treat its employees, former employees, board members, governmental and private entities, donors, suppliers, vendors, associations, and the public at large with the utmost respect and dignity.
- Interact and involve yourself in the organizational business and learn the various organizational practices and culture.
- Availability to work 12 months per year.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Capability to establish the appropriate boundaries while developing and nurturing supportive relationships with staff and board members.
- Ability to educate a variety of interested parties about the program by developing ongoing relationships and making both formal and informal presentations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and smell continually. Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision is required to drive an automobile if driving is a requirement of the job.
- Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving light traffic.
