We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and oversee payroll operations. As a Public Accounting Manager, you will manage client engagements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, provide strategic guidance to clients, and oversee accounting and payroll staff to ensure accurate and timely services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public accounting, payroll and sales tax, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibilities:
Client Engagement Management: Lead and manage multiple client engagements, including audits, reviews, compilations, and tax engagements, ensuring timely and accurate completion within budget.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements for diverse clients across industries.
Audit and Assurance: Plan and execute audit procedures, including risk assessment, internal control testing, substantive testing, and preparation of audit reports.
Payroll Oversight: Supervise and oversee payroll staff responsible for processing payroll for clients accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including withholding taxes and deductions.
Quality Control: Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements in all client engagements and internal operations.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Business Development: Identify opportunities for additional services and cultivate new client relationships through networking, proposals, and presentations.
Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting and advisory services practice, leveraging technology and best practices.
Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes through continuous learning and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, with a focus on audit, tax, and advisory services, including managerial responsibilities.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with payroll systems (ADP).
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a team.
Client Management: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding client needs, and delivering exceptional client service.
Ethics: Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in handling client information.
Hours: Full-time position with flexibility during peak seasons (e.g., tax season, year-end).
