Rate- $22.71 (Increase at Day 90 and after 1 year with a comprehensive benefit package)
Scope: The Die Setter is accountable for all tasks associated with changing a machine, resource, or die from the completion of one job to the start of the next. This includes ensuring all necessary paperwork is accurate and complete.Responsibilities:
  • Locate dies, associated tooling, gauging, and materials required for job setup.
  • Continuously improve changeover processes to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of die racks and finger bar racks.
  • Properly store chutes and miscellaneous die set equipment.
  • Operate equipment such as hi-lo, crane, and other machinery for equipment transfer.
  • Safely transfer dies and align them with steel, feeders, and other components.
  • Secure equipment and make necessary adjustments to press settings for safe operation.
  • Set up peripheral equipment like guards, conveyors, lubricators, and unloading devices.
  • Assist in cleanup, setup, and organization, ensuring materials are returned to their designated locations.
  • Fabricate or modify air pins, parallels, knockouts, chutes, etc., as needed.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork such as die setup sheets and checklists.
  • Perform first-off inspections using established methods to verify correct setup.
  • Run a trial of 200 pieces before handing over the job to operators.
  • Train Press Operator I’s on die setting procedures.
  • Participate in internal, external, and LPA (Layered Process Audit) activities as required.
  • Instruct Press Operator I’s during die changes to assist in setup.
  • Assist in coordinating production floor activities, including MAFACT initiatives and employee training.
  • Contribute to departmental and divisional improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Programs and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including IATF 16949, ISO14001 (EMS), MAFACT, and Employee Handbook.
  • Follow MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including proper use of PPE and adherence to Lockout procedures. Report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Leader.
  • Comply with ISO 14001 responsibilities related to environmental management per MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or coursework in related fields preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Die Setter or similar role in manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment related to die setting and press operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
