About the Role
1. Learn to troubleshoot and repair dies in the press and\or on the bench.
2. Progress as outlined in the Apprenticeship program.
3. Brainstorm improvements in tooling and in all plant processes.
4. Learn to set up and operate Tool Room equipment including drill press, drill, lathe, mill and grinder.
5. Assist with die setting activities.
6. Provide training to Press Operator I’s.
7. Attend college courses and maintain a C or better grade in all classes.
8. Take direction from Manager, Leader and experienced Tool & Die Co-workers and acquire required skills for each 1000 hour assessment.
9. Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work, implementation of SMED and continuous improvement activities.
10. Responsible to complete all required Toolroom documentation (paperwork and computer) including Last-off Reports, Die Maintenance Reports, Mis-hit Reports, etc.
11. Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and orderliness of the Toolroom and at presses when performing work.
12. Learn to remove, repair and install all die sections that have been damaged or are dull, and verify that work has been done correctly.
13. Maintain a clean and safe work area, supporting 5S, Health & Safety and Environmental initiatives.
14. Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
15. Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment). Reports unsafe conditions.
16. Active participation in MAFACT Teams and activities as required.
17. Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits Cost saving improvement suggestions, CIP’s.
18. Treat team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee’s Charter and Common Values.
