Sound Image, a Brand of Clair Global, is looking for an AV Design Engineer to join their Integration team in their San Diego, CA office.

Overview

The AV Design Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of system design and sales estimates for new or existing audio, video, control, and performance lighting systems. They also supervise the preparation of additional project documentation including scope statements, bill of materials, product data sheets, operational manuals, warranties, client training and test data.

Job Duties

  • Work with Account Executives on project needs assessments and requirements for the development of scope of work and bill of materials.
  • Work with Account Executives and Project Managers on Pre-Bid sales activities on bid/spec opportunities such as equipment and material take-offs, labor estimates, and vendor quotes.
  • Take a lead role in technical communications such as writing scope of work statements, documenting bill of materials, writing specifications, writing/managing pre-bid RFI's and related job communications.
  • Assist drafting & BIM team and in the preparation of submittal and constructions documents.
  • Provide technical assistance during installation.
  • Perform site visits to review installation standards, assist in system testing, verification, commissioning, programming, system turn on and client training.
  • Supervise job close-out deliverables including test results, as-built drawings, training videos / manuals, operations manuals, and warranty documents.

Job Requirements

  • Position requires excellent knowledge of AV systems design and responsibility for technical aspects of multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of audio, video, lighting and control system components and subsystems including capabilities, limitations, interfaces, and suitability to task.
  • Requires an understanding of the architectural drawings and standard AVL drawing conventions.
  • Prefer knowledge and experience with IT networks, control, and DSP systems.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit & Navisworks).
  • Prefer knowledge of modeling software (EASE, Sound Vision, etc.)
  • Prefer formal training in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or audio/video engineering.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and have a willingness to work within a team environment accepting direction and developing an ever-increasing skill set.
  • Prefer a 4-year degree or higher in a related discipline and experience installing commercial AV systems or equivalent experience in related fields and industries.
  • Requires AVIXA CTS certification. Prefer AVIXA CTS-D certification.
  • Must be proficient in time management and organization skills, results oriented, and extremely detail oriented. Must be able to meet deadlines and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires knowledge and experience with all typical business software. (MS Teams, Excel, Word, Smart Sheets, ERP systems...)
  • Requires very good written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and very good problem-solving abilities.
  • Prefer knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC 2014), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA 2010) and California ADA 2013.
  • Some travel required. Must have a valid driver's license.
