We have an Accounting Specialist position open in our Accounting and Finance Dept. This is an entry level accounting position with 2-3 years’ experience that fits well for someone who loves math, numbers, and a knack for learning accounting principles. We are seeking an active learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who wants to grow with our company.


Essential Accounting Tasks and Activities (not limited to):

· Keep active communication with both accounting and operations management.

· Prepare weekly Fuel Surcharge and Exchange Rate worksheets and distribute to all departments.

· Prepare daily statements for customs brokerage team, update duty log and process payments.

· Prepare the A/P log and update as information is received.

· Process daily check requests and submit checks to Controller for signature.

· Post accounts payable invoices in a timely and accurate manner and investigate discrepancies.

· Update vendor terms and other necessary information in CW1 as needed.

· Request statements from vendors as needed and do research on all pending accruals over 60 days.

· Prepare weekly ACH and bi-weekly check run and submit to Accounting Supervisor for review and processing.

· Review reports and files on a weekly basis to capture all accruals and payables in the correct month and effectively close files in a timely manner


Key Duties:

· Communicate and find resolution between departments in following inter-department rules.

· Participate in accounting workflow enhancement activities.

· Train operations in standardized shipment file entry and record keeping.

· Gather data for annual audit/review as needed.

· Assist accounting team with accurate and timely customer billing and pricing.

· Involve in monthly closing to ensure all revenue is recognized and reported efficiently.

· Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Controller or other management.

· Assist Accounting Team with daily tasks during absences or increasingly busy times.


Ideal Candidate must have these minimum qualities and certifications:

· Minimum 3+ years of experience in an accounting department preferably in the logistics/transportation industry

· Cargowise and/or Questaweb (Descartes) experience a plus

· Proficiency and/or Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

· Self-motivated with a positive attitude, detailed oriented and can multi-task.
