Description: The Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing and guiding the project management function within the organization. This role includes leading the development and implementation of project management strategies, methodologies, and tools, with a strong focus on Earned Value Management (EVM) to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Other aspects of this role include full scope management of one or more contract vehicles, including GWAC’s, IDIQ’s, and BPA’s.

Director of Project Management Job Duties:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead and mentor the project management team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Develop and implement project management strategies, processes, and best practices.

  • Align project management efforts with organizational goals and strategic objectives.

  • Establish and communicate the vision for project management within the organization

  • Mentoring and developing project management talent and potential future leaders

  • Leading organizational change initiatives to enhance project delivery capabilities

  • Engaging with executive leadership to influence business planning and decision-making

Project Oversight:

  • Overseeing the entire project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives

  • Ensure projects adhere to defined scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

  • Provide guidance on project methodologies, tools, and techniques.

  • Driving innovation in project management processes and tools

  • Lead project kick-off and startup to ensure smooth project initiation.

  • Identify and address potential risks and issues related to project performance and cost control.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a timely and transparent manner.

  • Facilitate project reviews and ensure stakeholder requirements are met.

  • Engaging with executive leadership to influence business planning and decision-making

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.

  • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to support project financial planning and reporting.

  • Ensure optimal use of project resources and address any resource constraints.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in project management and EVM practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes and outcomes.

  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.

  • Drive innovation in project management processes and tools

  • Other duties, as assigned

Earned Value Management (EVM):

  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) practices to monitor project performance and progress.

  • Analyze EVM metrics, including Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI), to assess project health.

  • Develop and present EVM reports and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.

Security Clearance Level: None required

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Desired Skills / Qualifications: Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PgMP) required. EVM certification (e.g., PMI-SP, PMI-RMP) is a plus. Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and its application in project performance monitoring. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera). Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle complex issues effectively.

Location: Clarksburg, WV

Status: Full time

Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
