SUMMARY

The MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING TECH will provide technical support to Manufacturing Engineers and Operations to improve manufacturing operations, by building, procuring and validating fixtures, workstations, and test equipment, and by developing and maintaining process documentation.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Assembly line balance and support development and maintenance of Assembly routings as required.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for operations, including process / lean / KPS improvements and initiation of Engineering Change Requests as required.
  • Procure and manage assembly hand tools, workstations and equipment as required.
  • Support new product development initiatives and the successful and timely introduction of New Products into production.
  • Support successful and timely introduction of Engineering Changes into production.
  • Support plant safety and security programs as required.
  • Design, develop, test, and manufacture electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems.
  • Support CIP meetings and participate in daily Production meetings as required.
  • Assist in the training and development of new personnel.
  • Capture and publish standard work videos.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic math skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office products such as Word & Excel is required, as well as the ability to create and manipulate digital photographs and CAD images in these applications.
  • Experience with Outlook, MS Project and Visio, Visio and Outlook are plusses.
  • Experience with CAD programs (AutoCAD, Inventor) is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to document clearly and project manufacturing processes in writing.
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as independently.
  • Mechanical aptitude is required so as to understand the functional principles of the equipment and capabilities of relevant manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to read/interpret Engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and machine shop processes (cutting, forming, machining, and welding) is preferred but not required.
  • Moderate ability to use MS Office products such as Word & Excel is required, as well as ability to create and manipulate digital photographs and CAD images in these applications is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work performed.
  • Must be able to analyze data to solve practical problems encountered in manufacturing environment which generally involves variables that are technical and/or procedural in nature.
  • Ability to record processes and use appropriate software to edit final videos.
  • Must be able to communicate well in English, both written and verbal, including technical terminology.
  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred, but not required.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stoop, stand and walk; use hands to feel or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
