Position Title: Lead Manufacturing Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

This role is for a direct hire opportunity with relocation assistance available for qualified candidates. The position requires full onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and innovate new technologies in manufacturing engineering and production processes.
  • Facilitate Design for Manufacturing initiatives across various engineering teams for both new and existing projects.
  • Establish manufacturing protocols, operation sequences, and prepare tooling and gauge lists, along with creating and validating N/C programs and detailed operation sheets for complex machined components.
  • Adopt a hands-on approach to enhance existing production processes through continuous improvement strategies.
  • Develop, track, and revise engineered or estimated time standards for setup and operational hours, as well as economic run quantities for each component's processes.
  • Provide comprehensive cost estimates for new business opportunities and process enhancements.
  • Lead evaluations, justifications, and implementations of new manufacturing capital equipment.
  • Engage daily with various disciplines, including engineers, technicians, operations, and quality assurance personnel, as well as external suppliers, to resolve process-related challenges and mentor peers.
  • Balance time between hands-on shop engagement and office responsibilities, often performing machine program validations alongside shop staff.
  • Take on project leadership roles as assigned by management.
  • Support automated manufacturing cells, focusing on process stability to minimize labor and human factor variations.
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Technology.
  • Significant experience in manufacturing engineering may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on milled components, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on machining experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM CNC programming (Siemens NX preferred) and fluency in G&M Code programming.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools and workholding, with experience in quick change and automation tooling being advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes to develop efficient CNC programs for complex machined parts.
  • A proactive mindset and self-starter attitude to advance current methodologies and technologies towards automated manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to guide and mentor other manufacturing engineers.
  • Experience in developing automated and advanced manufacturing systems.
  • A Lean mindset with leadership capabilities to promote a Lean factory environment and standardized work practices.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently, with experience in MS Project being a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Experience in programming 5-Axis machining centers is essential.
