Overview: The Head Golf Course Equipment Manager at Homestead Golf Club is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment utilized on the golf course. This includes but is not limited to, mowers, tractors, aerators, and utility vehicles. The role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical systems, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all golf course equipment.
    • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify any issues or potential failures.
    • Coordinate with staff to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced according to manufacturer guidelines.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment history.

  2. Repairs:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with golf course equipment.
    • Perform or oversee repairs and adjustments as needed to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
    • Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance.
    • Maintain a well-equipped and organized maintenance facility.

  3. Inventory Management:

    • Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies needed for equipment maintenance and repairs.
    • Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
    • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary to avoid disruptions in equipment maintenance operations.

  4. Staff Management:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of equipment maintenance technicians.
    • Assign tasks and schedule work to ensure efficient operation of the equipment maintenance department.
    • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff members.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.

  5. Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Develop and manage the equipment maintenance budget, including forecasting expenses and monitoring spending.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings without sacrificing quality or safety.
    • Track expenses related to equipment maintenance and repairs, and report variances as needed.

  6. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all equipment maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
    • Provide training on safe operating procedures for equipment to staff members.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any issues promptly.
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations and industry standards related to equipment maintenance and safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certification in equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a golf course or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
