Are you looking for a job in the human services field that is both satisfying and rewarding, but will also leave your holidays free?


The Employment Specialist II position involves training, job coaching, supporting, discovering and achieving the personal employment goals of numerous individuals with disabilities and/or disadvantages in the Mankato area. The Employment Specialist II will develop a base of knowledge regarding employment, client and organizational relationships. As a contributing member on the team, this position requires a strong communicator, a flexible team player and a can-do attitude. The Employment Specialist II will regularly communicate with clients, client teams, funders, employers, co-workers and community members as well as closely tracking all employment activity.


Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with some flexibility for job coaching which may include occasional evenings or weekends.


Starting pay: $21.92 - $25.75 per hour, and may vary depending on experience.

In this position, you will:

  • Perform employment activities for a caseload of 40+ clients to include, but not limited to, receiving referrals and skill-training through employment assessment, placement and follow-a-long.
  • Complete and maintain client paperwork as required by all licensing and/or accreditation regulations and agency policies.
  • Transport clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships including a wide range of audiences with varied interests such as clients, client team members, funding sources, employers and community members.
  • Maintain a professional network that is knowledgeable about multiple industries.
  • Utilize technology and processes to ensure timely communication.
  • Work independently, and do so while collaborating with a team and meeting personal goals.

To succeed in this position, you will:

  • Have a High School diploma/equivalent plus two years of related work experience, preferably working with persons with disabilities OR; A Degree in a field related to human services/social services, plus a minimum of one year of related work experience working preferably working with persons with disabilities.
  • Have experience with group facilitation as well as one-one-training facilitation (preferred).
  • Have sales or customer service experience (preferred).
  • Have self-management skills.
  • Have practical understanding of business acumen.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both with clients and customers.
  • Have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer based office software.
  • Live within 15 miles of St Peter.
  • Have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Pass a background check through the Department of Human Services.
