Job Overview

Join our team as a skilled Welding Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in the production of high-quality boats.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Read production schedules and other sources to determine daily work.
  • Plan layout, assembly, and operations by reading shop cards, specifications, work orders, and safety data sheets.
  • Conduct machine set-up, including inspections and calibrations.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure them to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Prepare material surfaces for welding, ensuring no oxidized material, moisture, grease, or foreign matter.
  • Weld components in flat or vertical positions.
  • Detect and escalate faulty equipment operation, defective materials, and production misses.
  • Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders, and sanders.
  • Align and clamp workpieces together using hand tools or position items in fixtures, jigs, or vises.
  • Position and secure workpieces using overhead hoists.
  • Check parts for burrs and sharp edges, deburr, and grind off excess weld or spatter.
  • Communicate with team leads and vendors to ensure proper inventory of welding supplies and parts.
  • Clean work areas and maintain walkways free of litter and clutter.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • A certificate of completion from a welding program or 2 years of practical experience and the ability to pass a weld test.
  • Basic knowledge of metals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Positive 'Can Do' attitude.
