Responsibilities

  • Acts as the hotel ambassador, builds relationships and partnerships to leverage the exposure of the hotel in the community.
  • Responsible for proactively soliciting and managing group / catering related opportunities.
  • Develops sales goals and strategies and ensures alignment with the brand business strategy.
  • Executes the sales strategy and ensures individual booking goals are established and met for Sales management team.
  • Responsible for total room, banquet, catering, and room rental revenue streams, yield strategies, implementation and accountable to market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets.
  • Analyzes external marketplace, industry trends and public customer & competitor conversations.
  • Accountable and effectively manages and supports the Director of Catering and all Sales Team associates.
  • Assists leaders of revenue generating departments in developing effective revenue strategies and setting aggressive goals that will drive the property's financial performance.
  • Ensures the development of a strategic account plan for the demand generators in the market.
  • Actively upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
  • Have current knowledge of hotel rates, strategies, discounts, and promotions.
  • Ability to analyze financial and competitive data to make informed decisions.
  • Reviews the STR report, competitive shopping reports and uses other resources to maintain an awareness of the property’s market position.
  • Strategizes ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share.
  • Holds and participates in sales strategy meetings to provide input on weekly and overall sales strategy.
  • Identify and target prospective customers and new business.
  • Participate in select sales activities both on and off property, sites, and industry trade shows.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with key customers, industry leaders, local market influencers and drivers.
  • Prepare production reports as required by ownership and/or asset advisors.
  • Maximize net room revenue contribution with a thorough understanding of all booking channels and management of inventory and rate therein.
  • Manage operational hotel and corporate pricing strategies through definition and management of rate levels stay restrictions and other tactics, which are congruent with demand factors, and which are managed through all distribution channels.
  • Work with Revenue Management team to determine effective and engaging rate offers.
  • Develops and tracks all sales and marketing KPIs’ and reports results on a regular and annual basis based on the KPI’s.
  • Lead local marketing efforts to highlight hotel services, food and beverage outlets and amenities. Identifies operational challenges that may reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and works with appropriate departments on solutions.
  • Accountable for sales & marketing budget to assure appropriate spend.
  • Interview, hire, train, and motivate a highly qualified and effective team, capable of providing optimum staff support for the organization; plan, assign, review, and direct work; evaluate and appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • US Work Authorization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field required.
  • Must have at least 7-10 years as Director of Sales and Marketing in a luxury hotel or hotel management company environment.
  • Strong business & marketing background and experience with a proven track record of execution in an upscale or luxury property.
  • Experience managing catering sales teams required; strong selling skills are highly desirable.
  • Experience managing a small team in a fast paced and dynamic environment, and the ability to create goals, objectives and meaningful and measurable KPI’s.
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and oral. Must have excellent grammar skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel and competitive market
  • Excellent MS Office skills and highly knowledgeable of related programs.
  • Possesses demonstrated strong leadership and selling skills along with proven achievements in selling, optimizing guest and team member engagement and financial performance.
  • Must be a self-starter with experience successfully leading in a fast-paced environment and prioritizing demands.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must have outstanding MS Office skills and be technically savvy and familiar with Catering, Events and Food & Beverage operating/budgeting systems and reporting.
  • Professional & appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the brand and culture.
  • Some travel required to attend required events.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Must be reachable on phone 24/7 in order to respond to emergencies.
