This location for this position is in Warren, MI.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing, gaining approvals and implementation of materials packaging for new and existing programs. This position will also work on continuous improvement projects for current programs. This includes, but is not limited to internal logistics, shipping and receiving, packaging of raw material and finished goods and plant material flow.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, purchase and gain approval for new packaging.
  • Work with Advanced Manufacturing team to understand build process and required material handling equipment.
  • Work with manufacturing team on continuous improvement projects for existing programs.
  • Cost estimating of packaging for new programs.
  • Design of lineside displays and material layouts.
  • Approval of supplier designed packaging.
  • Continuous improvement and cost reduction for existing programs.
  • Supplier setup and development for material handling equipment and packaging.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of packaging engineering experience.
  • Working Knowledge of materials operations within an automotive supplier.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Team Center and SAP is a plus.
