Staff Accountant

We are currently looking for a Staff Account - Hybrid to join our team out of our Mooresville, NC office.

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This position is responsible for preparing and recording journal entries, account reconciliations and detailed reports. This role will also assist with month-end close, audits and special projects.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance.

Experience:

A strong working knowledge of computer applications with spreadsheet experience required. Three to five years accounting experience required. Prior healthcare experience preferred, but not required.

  • Must possess a well-rounded knowledge of business procedures and general working understanding of accounting/bookkeeping concepts.
  • Must be able to effectively work in a hybrid environment (2 days in-office each week, other three from home) out of our Lake Norman, NC office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and various schedules on an accurate and timely basis for entry into the accounting system.
  • Responsible for fixed asset management, prepaid expenses, accounts payable accruals.
  • Responsible for weekly AP check run via printing checks or creating ACH upload template.
  • Maintain EZ pass account and merchant fleet account for company vehicles.
  • Backup to accounts payable; knowledge of how to code invoices, enter into AP in accounting system, and prepare batches for check runs.
  • Maintain the general ledger.
  • Set up new accounts as well as reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Perform Accounts Payable to General Ledger reconciliations for all business units.
  • Provide requested documentation to the external auditors, e.g., Footnote Template, variance explanations, account reconciliations.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
  • Stay current and complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
