Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Lending Officer, the Business Lending Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Business Loan Department.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop commercial lending relationships to increase business loan portfolio
  • Make presentations to the Business Loan Committee and provide recommendations
  • Negotiate terms under which credit will be extended
  • Monitor current rates and product offerings to remain competitive
  • Analyze annual reviews including covenant compliance, collateral exceptions, and make risk rating recommendations
  • Address concerns that are noted in annual business reviews
  • Determine workout solutions for delinquent business loans
  • Grant decisions within existing policy and procedures
  • Provide senior management with monthly pipeline report
  • Develop and implement new business loan programs or make changes to existing business loan programs including products and procedures
  • Manage all aspects of business loan portfolio and other portfolio management tools
  • Maintain broad knowledge of EFCU Business Lending policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of business lending regulations to ensure program compliance
  • Save participation statements to correct folder on network drive
  • Direct and coordinate Business Lending staff to ensure loan goals are achieved
  • Process employee time and maintain attendance controllers
  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to business lending team
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork, integrity, and exceptional member service
  • Work with the Chief Lending Officer to provide input to strategic decisions that affect the Business Lending Department
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business-related field preferred. Minimum of 10 years commercial/business lending experience in financial institutions preferably in a credit union environment.


Job Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Ability to organize work and uniformly direct the activities of subordinates.
  • Ensure compliance with internal business loan policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations/guidelines from external regulatory and legislative agencies.
  • Skilled in technology in applicable computer programs including business lending software, and virtual/digital work. Ability to work in a paperless environment. Ability and willingness to learn new processes and apply them appropriately.
  • Possess strong business development, member relations, and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex financial information.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as contributing to a team, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze the 5 C’s of credit (character, conditions, capacity, capital, & collateral) in determining the creditworthiness of a borrower.
  • Skilled in both written and verbal communications, able to correspond with members and vendors with professionalism. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of associates. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, and to ensure a high level of employee morale.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PDF software skills.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork and professionalism through positive recognition for employee performance above standard. Possess a positive approach to discipline for poor employee performance.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in effective listening to provide superb service and exceed members’ needs.
  • Ability to review financial statements, credit reports, applicable (DSCR) Debt Service Coverage Ratio’s, and other supporting documentation to ensure cash flow analysis factors in appropriate level of risk.


Mental & Physical Requirements: Requires sitting 6-8 hours a day; Stress related to managing a team. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and occasional after hours, as necessary.
