Job Description: Fleet Upgrade Engineer

About the Role

The Fleet Upgrade Engineer will be responsible for executing assigned software platform upgrades in customer environments. This role involves data extraction, complexity analysis, coordination with software solutions engineers, and comprehensive management of the upgrade process from planning to execution. The Fleet Upgrade Engineer will work closely with customers, sales, and implementation teams to ensure a smooth transition and integration of new software features.

What You’ll Do

  • Upgrade Execution: Complete software upgrades assigned by the Fleet Upgrade Manager, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and accurately.

  • Data Extraction: Pull necessary data from customer systems to prepare for the upgrade process.

  • Solution Review: Analyze existing customer solutions to identify any complexities. Work with software solutions engineers to determine if all necessary features are available in the cloud software for a successful migration.

  • Feature Verification: Collaborate with software solutions engineers to verify that all required features are present in the cloud software before migration.

  • Tenant Creation: Set up and configure new tenants for customers in the cloud software environment.

  • Test Plan Development: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure all aspects of the upgrade are functioning correctly.

  • Customer Communication: Work with customers to explain the integration capabilities of the software and address any questions or concerns.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with sales and implementation teams to complete the upgrade process smoothly.

  • Technical Expertise: Understand and utilize APIs, messaging queues, and drop files in the upgrade process. Maintain a basic understanding of packaging to ensure compatibility and functionality.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in software upgrades, IT services, or a related field.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of APIs, messaging queues, drop files, and basic packaging concepts.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues during the upgrade process efficiently.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.

  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

  • Customer Focus: A strong customer service orientation, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service and support.

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

  • This position may require occasional travel to customer sites.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
