Summary

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting St. Paul's Child Care Ministry's Director in the development and oversight of all programs. This includes the creation and implementation of a curriculum that reflects the mission, Christian education and values, and promotes academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth for children ages six months to twelve years old. He or she must be available to assist other caregivers and teachers with questions and issues regarding the program and/or their class. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the management and teaching of their own pre-school classroom. He or she must assist the Director as necessary and act as Director in their absence.

Duties

  • Have a working knowledge of licenses, policies, and mandates required of St. Paul's Child Care Ministry programs, personnel, and facilities.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate pre-school and summer programs and help develop and maintain age appropriate classroom environments.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with the Ministry's guidelines and state and local requirements.
  • Educate others on a positive and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Assume Director level responsibilities in Director's absence.
  • Follow all ministry policies and state regulations.
  • Attend monthly board meetings.
  • Maintain communication with families.


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency is required. Associate or Bachelor degree in child development or early childhood education preferred.
  • 3-5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision making skills.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal (orally and written) skills.
  • Maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Excellent driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must be able to regularly sit, stand, walk, get down on the floor with children, talk, hear, operate computers and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, occasionally lift objects and children up to 40 lbs.


Benefits

  • Five days vacation after 90 days of employment. Gaining one day each additional year of employment, not to exceed twenty days.
  • Sign on bonus after six months of employment of $300 and an additional $300 at one year of employment.
