Linvilla Orchards' Garden Center features a colorful array of indoor and outdoor plants including beautiful annuals, perennials, fruit trees, shrubs, evergreens, mums in the fall and poinsettias in December. We market an impressive collection of home & seasonal décor, toys, gifts and many functional garden accessories.

We are looking for a part time employee in the Garden Center to help on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons. The Garden Center Assistant is responsible for a broad range of plant maintenance activities as well as provides world class customer service. The ideal candidate is hardworking with general plant knowledge to help care for plants and assist customers. The selected candidate will interact well with customers and have the skill set to impart his/her knowledge effectively.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plant, fertilize, weeds, spray repellant, support with integrated pest management, re-pot, water, and mulch plants/ shrubs/ trees in the garden center.
  • Assist with the care to ensure they are healthy and well-presented for sale.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering their questions, and offering assistance in selecting plants and any questions regarding plant care.
  • Assist customers with purchases.
  • Handle incoming plant deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the garden center, including sweeping, tidying displays, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Help receive, organize, and restock inventory, ensuring shelves are adequately stocked and products are properly labeled.
  • Care for tools including cleaning, safe storage, sharpening, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, and moving items
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, lift, stretch, and climb in order to care for plants and arrange them within the garden center.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and being exposed to the elements.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Thorough understanding of plants and their care/ growing condition needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Plant and garden experience.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Remain organized, give attention to detail, follow instructions and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure the garden center is well-maintained and products are displayed attractively.
  • Communicate with fellow workers and management.
  • Reliably available on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the afternoon.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior work experience in plant care preferred
