Grounds & maintenance crew helps maintain the beauty of our farm by trimming edges, cutting grass, pruning trees, cutting firewood, weeding and assisting as needed. Individuals are needed to assist with maintaining our extensive grounds as well as assisting with other duties as needed.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Operate power equipment and other vehicles such as tractors, chainsaws, electric clippers, or other similar machines.
  • Utilize lawn mowers and string trimmer to maintain grounds.
  • Ensure proper hydration of lawns, trees, and plants using sprinkler systems, hoses, watering cans, or irrigation systems.
  • Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other features; performs general cleaning and snow removal.
  • Plant and cultivate lawns, or gardens. Based on landscaping designs, determine further work that should occur.
  • Must work well in a group setting as well as alone.
  • Delivers and spreads topsoil and/or straw over newly seeded areas.
  • Collects and discard litter or other waste materials.
  • Install and maintain specialty features such as rock gardens, retaining walls, decks, or playground equipment.
  • Deliver and spreads topsoil and/or straw over newly seeded areas.
  • Drive hayrides as needed.
  • Split smoke wood and firewood.
  • Use a variety of maintenance equipment such as shovels, rakes, or saws to complete assignments.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Monday to Friday 9:00am - 3:00 pm, and some weekends required.
  • Basic understanding of grounds keeping and landscaping practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently, thoroughly, communicate well, and follow directions.
  • High school diploma.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Experience in the use of industrial hand and power tools.
  • Forklift certification, not required but preferred.
  • On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling.
  • Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
