Bus Driver-Cardinal Ritter Senior Services

Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, one of South County's largest independent, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation nonprofit senior living communities, seeks compassionate and experienced Bus Driver to join our growing team.

This position functions as a PRN, as needed, Bus Driver for all 10 of our HUD Housing Sites. The Bus Driver is an essential part of the CRSS Programs at the various buildings in resident transportation. The Bus or Van Driver follows regular schedules or individual activity schedules developed by the Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform the physical and mental functions of assisting senior residents at all times.
- Properly inspect the bus and document results before driving bus on planned resident trips.
- Use, maintain and comply with the CRSS Bus Drivers Manual associated with each CRSS vehicle
- Maintain the vehicle, in coordination with the manual, maintenance supervisor, property supervisor or administrator, including oil changes and maintenance checks. Perform interior cleaning as needed.
- Coordinate with Activity Directors when necessary and adhere to established scheduled trips.
- Must have the physical ability to safely assist residents in entering or exiting the vehicle, IE: assist with walkers and resident bags on shopping trips.
- Ensure that all residents who are signed up for trips are accounted for.
- Ensure that all passengers have seat belts buckled before leaving.
- Ensure that all residents who are on the bus are also on the return trip.
- Act as courier, if required, between the site and CRSS.
- Be aware of, and prepared to follow emergency procedures. Ensure that all equipment in vehicle is operational (e.g. cellular phone, fire extinguisher, first aid kit and emergency kit).
- Attend training workshops as required regarding pertinent issues (e.g. defensive driving, customer service, CPR, etc).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous bus driving experience in St. Louis area is mandatory.
- Must have the minimum of a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class C with passenger endorsement.
- Must certify to the Department of Revenue that you will operate in accordance with the classification of "NON-EXCEPTED INTERSTATE".
- Must provide a current certified medical examiner's certificate (CDL medical card) every two years or as required by state and federal law.
- Must provide a color copy of current, non-expired Commercial Driver License (CDL) with each renewal.
SKILLS & ATTITUDES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN JOB
- As employees of a Catholic agency which cares for the senior adult, all staff will demonstrate a respect for each client as a person created in the image of God, in a non-ageist manner.
- Willing to work as a member of a team and take direction from supervisors.
- Must be able to work flexible hours: days, evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must have abilities to work with senior adults, IE: patience, helpful, flexibility and pleasant attitude.
RELATIONSHIPS REQUIREMENTS
- Will frequently deal with people of varying ages and must be able to respond to requests by residents or family members in an appropriate manner.

- Will work with credit slips for gasoline, minor maintenance issues, etc.
