Job Summary:

Avanza seeks a highly skilled Financial Analyst with a focus on federal financial management, costing, forecasting, and data analytics. This role is pivotal to a team tasked with building a robust modeling and analytical function, including development of a suite of tools to support a federal client’s objectives to optimize resource allocation and performance. Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial management project workstream to enhance financial management practices, with a focus on program operations research, costing, data analytics, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Spearhead the development and periodic refinement of financial and operational models to predict cost and agency output to improve budgetary performance and resource allocation.
  • Drive the implementation of methods to enhance financial management, budget execution, and budget formulation processes to bolster data integrity and transparency.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of training programs on new financial tools and models to ensure widespread adoption and proficiency across the organization.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders including the C-Suite to translate complex financial and operational data into strategic insights, aiding in high-level decision-making and policy formulation.
  • Manage the technical aspects of financial systems, ensuring compliance with federal financial regulations and leveraging technology to enhance financial reporting and analysis.
  • Conduct independent verification and validation (IV&V) of financial functions and/or third-party work products to maintain and enhance accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control of deliverables.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field with at least 4 years of progressive experience in financial management and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting financial projects with high levels of complexity and significant impact.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to help manage clients and contribute to a high-performing team.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with broader Microsoft platforms (experience with analytics, statistical, and business intelligence platforms a plus).
  • Thorough understanding of federal financial management, budget formulation and execution processes, financial modeling, and managerial cost accounting.
