The KLEO Community Family Life Center is a non-profit organization that provides a haven and essential services to Chicago's victims of violence. KLEO empowers individuals and families to build a brighter future through various programs and initiatives, from youth development programs to health fairs, workforce development, and food distribution.

 

Job Summary

We seek a compassionate and experienced social worker (LCSW) to join our violence recovery program, primarily serving KLEO’s shelter residents. This initiative provides vital therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups impacted by violence. As an LCSW, you will play a pivotal role in their healing journey by developing a comprehensive care plan, connecting community members with relevant resources, and providing care management, documentation, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive, differentiated plan of care for the patient and/or family using evidence-based trauma-informed therapy models.
  • Connects patients and their families to relevant resources at KLEO and the community to address their needs.
  • Provides care management and/or support programming.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client documentation of all client interactions in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Leverages experience to support team members in training, crisis management, etc.
  • Facilitate support groups for victims of violence, fostering a safe space for peer connection and shared experiences.
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families on the impact of violence, coping mechanisms, and healthy relationships.
  • Collaborate with program staff, including case managers and advocates, to ensure holistic client support.
  • Participate in program development and improvement initiatives.
  • Track and report patient progress using outcome measures and program metrics.
  • Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in trauma-informed care, mental health treatment, and violence prevention through ongoing training and continuing education.
  • Must ensure the continuous maintenance of their licensure throughout their tenure of employment.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current LCSW license in the state of Illinois is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience working with victims of violence, trauma, or related mental health issues.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed therapy models and interventions.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of a multicultural population.
  • Strong commitment to social justice and advocacy for victims of violence.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic record-keeping systems.
  • Comfortable with learning new software programs.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving office supplies and equipment weighing about 20 pounds.
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods while performing tasks.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred)
  • Experience working in a non-profit or community-based organization serving victims of violence or trauma.

 

Other: Must comply with agency requirements of strict client confidentiality, professional ethics, and agency policies and procedures. Must participate in the following but not limited to monthly staff meetings; training (travel to shelter is necessary); fundraising events; community fairs; client events; outreach efforts; and other events as directed by your supervisor.
