Position Overview

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Powers Health is tasked with delivering direct patient support through psychotherapeutic interventions, group therapy sessions, family consultations, and planning for patient discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates diagnostic assessments with patients and their families to evaluate the support network necessary for a successful transition from inpatient care or to thrive in an outpatient setting.
  • Collects and documents a comprehensive psychosocial history, addressing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects, while identifying the patient's immediate needs through clinical discussions.
  • Organizes family consultations involving the psychiatric inpatient and their significant others as directed by the Attending Psychiatrist.
  • Keeps accurate departmental records and statistics to ensure compliance and quality of care.
Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) along with Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is mandatory. If not yet licensed, successful completion of the licensure examination within six months of employment is required.
  • Relevant clinical psychiatric experience as outlined in the intern's training program.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSM-V diagnoses relevant to a diverse age range from young adults to seniors.
  • Analytical skills to assist in the formulation of effective treatment objectives, plans, policies, and outcome measures.
  • Clinical expertise in assessing inpatient requirements and potential for psychological progress.
  • Ability to collaborate with physicians, social service professionals, administrative staff, and other members of the healthcare team, as well as various community organizations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
  • Experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting, with skills in diagnostic interviews, recreational therapeutic methods, and discharge planning, along with familiarity with local resources and a mature approach to delivering quality clinical services.
  • Capability to operate effectively in a multilingual patient care context.
