Position Overview

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Powers Health plays a vital role in delivering direct patient support through therapeutic interventions, group therapy sessions, family consultations, and planning for patient discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates diagnostic assessments with patients and their families to evaluate the patient's support network in preparation for transitioning from inpatient psychiatric care or enhancing their outpatient living conditions.
  • Collects and documents a comprehensive psychosocial history, addressing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects, as well as the current needs of the patient through detailed clinical interviews.
  • Organizes family meetings involving the psychiatric inpatient and their significant others as directed by the attending psychiatrist.
  • Keeps accurate departmental records and statistics.
Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) and licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) are mandatory. If not yet licensed, successful completion of the licensure examination within six months of employment is required.
  • Relevant clinical psychiatric experience as outlined in the intern's clinical training program.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSM-V diagnoses applicable to a diverse age range from young adults to seniors.
  • Analytical skills to contribute to the formulation of effective treatment objectives, plans, policies, procedures, and outcome measures.
  • Clinical expertise in assessing inpatient needs and potential for psychological enhancement.
  • Ability to collaborate with physicians, social service professionals, administrative staff, and other members of the healthcare team, as well as various community organizations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of developmental principles across the lifespan.
  • Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting, including diagnostic interviewing, various therapeutic modalities, and discharge planning, along with familiarity with local agencies and facilities.
  • Capability to operate effectively in a multilingual patient care setting.
