Job Summary:

Case Managers assist attorney(s) with the initial intake and management of a client’s case through the pre-litigation process by providing clerical and research services including communicating with the client through the treatment process, preparation, and review of records from medical providers, and negotiating settlements with the insurance companies.

Reports To: Assigned Attorney

Department: Pre-litigation

Supervisor Responsibilities: (none)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Negotiating settlements with the insurance companies
  • Assist attorney(s) with the initial intake and management of a client’s case
  • Communicates and follows up with clients through the case and treatment process.
  • Drafts legal documents including Letters of Protection, CPRC Letters, Letters of Representation, Spoliation Letters, Tort Letters, and FOIA to medical providers and insurance companies.
  • Prepares and ensures relevant elements of a case are collected, maintained, and organized including the status of claims from insurance companies, police reports, medical liens, and client’s treatment and medical history from medical providers.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with navigating websites related to public records.
  • Bilingual preferred.

  • Education & Experience:
  • Experience in plaintiff personal injury or related field preferred.
  • Experience in automobile insurance or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work with prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
