Position Summary:


McMillen Health is seeking a skilled Grant Writing Specialist to play a key role in securing funding to support the organization's health education programs and creative projects. This individual will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, and managing the grant application and reporting process, ensuring compliance with funders' requirements. The Grant Writing Specialist will report directly to the Director of Development and Marketing and work collaboratively with program staff to align grant proposals with the organization's mission and goals. This full-time, on-site position is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Responsibilities:


Research and identify potential funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations that align with McMillen Health's mission and values.
Develop comprehensive grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's goals, programs, and impact to prospective funders.
Collaborate with program staff to gather data, statistics, and other information needed for grant proposals and reports.
Manage multiple grant applications simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines and reporting requirements.
Monitor and track grant awards, ensuring compliance with grant terms and reporting obligations.
Build and maintain relationships with funders and partners to support ongoing funding efforts.
Stay informed of industry trends, developments in health education, and changes in foundation priorities.

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, prospect research, or fundraising
Strong research, writing, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
Detail-oriented with a track record of meeting deadlines.
Proficient in coordinating grants and final reports
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment in sensitive situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:


This role requires moderate physical activity, including sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods and occasional lifting. Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with exposure to typical office conditions.

This position is full-time, hourly, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, located at McMillen Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is not a remote position. Starting hourly rate: $22 per hour, or $45,760 annually.
