Christ Health Center has an excellent opportunity for a Dental Front Office Coordinator to join our team. The Dental Front Office Coordinator is responsible for coordination and organization of the dental schedule. In addition, they work with the Dental Director to ensure maximum efficiency of dental clinic workflow. Performs duties that make use of advanced skills relative to health information management including, but not limited to providing customer service and release of information; chart completion; gathering statistics and preparing reports; and scanning, importing and distributing data. Performs all necessary basic clerical skills during business. This individual shall ensure completeness, organization, and accuracy of dental appointments, patient records, and patient information.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None


Major Duties & Responsibilities: Job Skills

• Greet and check patients in and out

• Answer phone calls and voice messages in a timely manner

• Professional, friendly, and helpful with all patient and staff requests

• Respond and comply to requests for patient information

• Update and maintain patient information including medical history and proof of income

• Handle patient information according to HIPAA guidelines

• Schedule and confirm dental patient appointments

• Assist in rescheduling patients who cancel or no-show appointments

• Assist in filling up schedule daily

• Call patients with outstanding treatment plans and needed hygiene recall

• Record and document any necessary patient communications

• Verify insurance prior to appointment • Collect and receipt payments from patients at time of service

• Dispatch lab work appropriately and follow-up with lab to assure timely delivery of cases

• Help other dental staff as needed and as time allows

• Attend and participate in in-service education for staff, quality assurance programs, and riskmanagement programs

• Run end of day report, balances all money collected, and submits to the Dental Director

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Requires effective interpersonal skills

• Requires analytical skills, attention to detail, effective organization skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to self-direct with minimal supervision.

• Proficiency with Athena One Dental is preferred

• Bi-Lingual in Spanish is required

• Basic knowledge of dental terminology and ability to present dental information to patients.


Qualification, Education, Experience

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent

• CPR certification

• 1-2 years in dental experience


Physical/Mental Demands

• Work requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds

• Work requires the ability to carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

• Work requires the ability to sit +/- 90% of the time.

• Work requires ability to stoop and bend, to reach, and grab with arms and hands; manual dexterity and to communicate with others.

• Work requires the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.

• Work requires proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.

• Work requires the ability to use a keyboard and visualize a computer monitor to enter and transform words or data. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

• OSHA personal exposure risk category I & II

• Airborne personal exposure risk category I (Possible exposure of the healthcare worker to patients capable of transmitting M. tuberculosis). Universal precautions will always be adhered to.


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence and reports; Ability to effectively present information in one -on-one and small group situations to patients, visitors, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) and to convey the information to others.
