OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director of Local Outreach is responsible for understanding the needs of the local community in order to mobilize our church to transform the community with the gospel. S/he will guide and oversee existing local outreach teams, build new teams, deepen relationships with local partners, and maximize opportunities for the gospel to be lived out in our area to draw people to Jesus.


CHARACTER

S/he is a spiritually mature believer in a vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ expressed in a commitment to humble, servant leadership and possesses a heart for the local church and wider kingdom of God.


ABOUT YOU

You are a person who is passionate about local outreach and want to see our community transformed by the gospel. You desire for community members to experience the incarnational love of Jesus when their needs are met through the work of those serving with Beyond. You can build, train and deploy teams to come alongside local partners, serving them in the name of Jesus. You are organized and able to manage a variety of partnerships and initiatives as well as plan and execute events that provide opportunities for the congregation to serve. You understand the need to engage everyone at Grace and can strategize ways to involve all ministries in local outreach, giving our members an opportunity to be proximate to those Jesus came to serve and love – the widow, the orphan, the prisoner and the materially poor.

 

While you could work anywhere, using your gifts for God’s Kingdom gives you the most joy and fulfillment.  Most importantly, you believe the gospel is the most important message ever, so seeing it advanced and lived out in people’s lives is of utmost importance to you.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recognize the needs of people in our local community, communicate clearly to keep initiatives in front of the church, establish clear pathways to involvement, and build local serving teams to live out the love of Jesus and share the saving grace of the gospel message with those they serve.
  • Mobilize, shepherd, train and empower a team of leaders to carry out impactful ministries in the community.
  • Plan and execute events that promote church-wide involvement in the community and use appropriate resources to impact lives.
  • Network with neighboring churches, schools, community services, and other non-profit organizations who share similar goals in serving the local community.

SCHEDULE

  • 1x Per Week – Meet with Beyond Director
  • 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Meetings on Tuesday mornings
  • 1x Per Week – Attend the weekly All Staff Prayer Call on Thursday afternoons
  • 1x Per Year – Participate in the All-Staff Retreat, typically in June
  • Christmas Eve + Easter Sunday Gatherings
  • As Needed – Initiate/attend project specific meetings
  • Sundays required (as needed)


RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to: Beyond Director
  • Works Closely with: Care and Counseling ministry, local ministry leaders, volunteers
  • Collaboration with all departments to engage the entire Grace body in Beyond local initiatives
