The Role:

The Production Worker will work in a food manufacturing/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment, responsible for various tasks including fermentation processing, in-house production, packaging finished products, sanitation, and working with the team to meet daily and weekly goals. This role primarily involves working in the fermentation of materials, food production to finished products, and packaging. There will be opportunities to cross-train and grow in other areas of the plant, such as maintenance, quality, sanitation, and warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle, process, and package food products following standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
  • Assist with the assembly, processing, and packaging of products.
  • Perform start-up/shutdown of production equipment and conduct sanitation procedures on equipment and workspace as scheduled.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and organized, adhering to safety rules at all times.
  • Operate and monitor fermentation equipment and processes.
  • Check and maintain production schedules, running orders, and formulas.
  • Scale, stage, and mix ingredients according to standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and conduct in-process tests and finish product tests to ensure products meet company standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on production and fermentation equipment, including inspections, lubrication, valve/sensor troubleshooting, and routine replacements (filters, gaskets, diaphragms, etc.).
  • Clean and maintain fermentation and media vessels according to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage fermentation and sanitation processes (clean in place/steam in place).
  • Accurately and safely handle/measure chemicals for CIP (clean in place) and SIP (steam in place).
  • Document processes and metrics accurately, maintaining all quality and food safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in food production, fermentation processes, or other industries following good manufacturing practices is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or a high school diploma with relevant experience is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work well with others, and participate as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail, dedicated to a high caliber of work performance.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand frequently and for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and perform hand and arm motions.

Compensation:
The starting hourly rate for this is $20.50 per hour, with a potential to make $1.00 per hour for working on a shift that includes shift differential, which is just one aspect of our total compensation package. In addition to the hourly rate, this position is eligible for a potential quarterly bonus and equity Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
