Position Title: Tech Support Specialist

Reports To: Manager, Technical Support
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Tech Support Specialist is an entry-level role focused on providing basic technical and application support for Hochiki America's product line. This position is ideal for individuals with foundational knowledge in tech support, customer service, and electrical component configuration. The role involves direct engagement with customers to resolve technical inquiries and ensure a positive service experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer first-level technical and application support via phone, email, and web to address customer queries efficiently.
  • Assist in the coordination of Return Materials Authorization (RMA) processes for product returns and replacements.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and configuration assistance for Hochiki products and related systems.
  • Support the Technical Support team with the preparation and maintenance of product documentation, including specifications and user manuals.
  • Participate in internal training sessions to better understand the product offerings and support procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to enhance customer satisfaction and support operational efficiencies.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training in a related field is a plus.

Experience/Minimum Qualifications Needed:

  • Some experience in tech support or customer service roles.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components and their configuration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with web-based communication tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey information to customers and team members.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with diverse groups.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment:

  • This position frequently requires the employee to sit with occasional walking and standing. Hand deftness is imperative as is the capacity to extend and reach with arms, use the computer, and engineering tools.
  • Must be able to carry, push and pull about 50 pounds.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Position may require travel, both domestic and international
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to groups and individuals.
  • Acute near vision may be required to operate engineering tools.
