JOB TITLE: Controller

REPORTS TO: VP of Finance

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt


JOB SUMMARY: The Controller will be directly involved in the day-to-day financial activities of the enterprise, including AP, AR, payroll, and GL management. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills who is capable of a wide range of financial tasks while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of financial information.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and manage the full cycle of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Participate in the preparation and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Drive the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up to date.
  • Manage cash flow, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Manage preparation for annual audits, providing necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with management team to ensure alignment of financial processes with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues within financial reports and transactions promptly.
  • Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and legislation that may impact the organization.
  • Continually seek ways to improve processes and increase efficiency within the department.
  • Ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other assigned duties.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting roles, including payroll, AR, AP, and GL.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
