LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.


Location: Vermont Air National Guard Base


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strength and Conditioning Specialist provides services with the primary purpose of preventing the incidence and severity of neck and back pain and expediting recovery from the demands of flight.


  • Provide periodic base line evaluations of assigned clients to determine current level of conditioning and risk for injury. The evaluation results will contribute to  the development of or refinement of existing Individualized Training Program (ITP) for client's use and for the development of reports outlining the details of the program concerning client health, use rate and program efficacy.
  • Perform initial evaluations on new clients assigned to the program including scientifically evaluating client functional movement, muscular balance/stability, range of motion, pain and discomfort, strength/conditioning level and the dynamic movements required to fly fighter aircraft.  Initial evaluations completed and results provided to the client within 20 days of client assignment to the program.  
  • Development/update of Individual Training Plans (ITP): Using results from formal and informal evaluations, develop individual training plans to promote overall health and fitness and to reduce neck and back pain and injury.  Training programs include routine physical maintenance plans, a preflight warm up routine, a post flight recovery plan and a strength and conditioning plan in collaboration with the Athletic Trainer.  Initial individual training programs due to client within 20 days of client assignment to the program.  Periodic ITP updates provided to the client at frequency that supports their continued progression within the program
  • Healthy Lifestyle Education: The AT shall provide annual healthy lifestyle education as it pertains to preventing neck and back injury to include but not limited to nutrition, sleep hygiene and stress management. 
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a Master’s degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education- related disciplines
  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience.
  • Must possess at least one of the following: 
    • current Strength and Conditioning (CSCS) certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA),
    • current Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM),
    • current Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), or
    • current Strength and Conditioning Certification (SCC) certification by the International and Sports Science Association (ISSA) or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, AF guidance, DoD guidance, and practice standards in order to ensure adherence within legal and professional parameters.
  • Knowledge and skills in using quality and risk management programs to identify issues to improve practice and ensure compliance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sustained experience working with elite athlete populations: Preferred experience includes, working with Special Operations Forces (SOF) specific performance programs and developing sport/mission specific performance programs resulting in attributable results with elite athletes (i.e. Division I collegiate, Olympic, professional level athletes or military combat professionals).
