The Role of Vehicle Inspector: As a Vehicle Inspector at Mercer, you will be a key player in ensuring the safety and compliance of our fleet. You will inspect and maintain our vehicles, helping to keep our drivers on the road and our operations running smoothly.


Why This Role is Important: Truck drivers are essential to our economy, transporting goods and materials across the country. As a Vehicle Inspector, you will ensure that our trucks and trailers are in top condition and meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Your work will help keep our drivers safe and our deliveries on time.


What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct comprehensive safety inspections on new and used commercial motor vehicles.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet federal regulations and state laws.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed truck inspections according to DOT standards.
  • Install Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and dash cameras in commercial vehicles.
  • Manage inventory and prepare ELDs and dash cameras for installation.
  • Handle data entry and maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records.
  • Lead orientation inspections for new contractors, agents, and employees.
  • Advise contractors on necessary repairs.
  • Audit and process DOT inspection documentation.


Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • General knowledge of cars, trucks, and commercial equipment is preferred but not required.
