A Career Team Basic Services Career Advisor is responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing a customer's program-specific service strategy to assist the customer in obtaining/retaining self-sufficient employment while complying with all applicable regulations and guidelines. This is an on-site, temporary assignment, scheduled to end on or before September 30, 2024.

Your Impact on Career Team's Success:

  • Provides information about eligible Workforce services through individualized career counseling and programmatic expectations.
  • Communicate program-specific requirements. Examples: employment verification, job search documentation, contacts, employment and training participation requirements, follow-up processes, verification/documentation requirements
  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with customers by meeting with them via a frequency and format that complies with programmatic regulations while meeting the needs of the customer.
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person work readiness curriculum and proctors assessment testing as appropriate.
  • Provide professional customer service and communicate efficiently with customers, peers, and management (verbally and in writing, as appropriate).
  • Communicate through appropriate channels regarding issues requiring communication with partnering agencies.
  • Provide individuals with information regarding program-specific available participation options and labor market information to allow the customer to make informed participation choices as available and appropriate.
  • Assure Board targets are met regarding services and priorities provided.
  • Track and document customer progress using appropriate tools and applying compliant data entry guidelines.
  • Determine the need and qualification for eligible supportive services and assure all applicable documentation and distribution guidelines are met.
  • Enter data into the mandated database system accurately and timely.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of required information into designated tracking tool/system.
  • Remain compliant with all training offered to ensure up-to-date knowledge of processes and procedures.
  • Comply with self-audit guidelines and other processes to assure case quality.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with private/sensitive issues and information.

To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent relevant work experience or a combination of 4 years' qualifying education plus relevant work experience.
  • Skills/Abilities: Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel and Word, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work efficiently virtually using phone, text, and video conference with customers, peers, and management.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Required Competencies: Professional Customer Service focus, learning orientation, communication proficiency, teamwork orientation, technical capacity.

Pay Range: $18/hr


Employment Type: Temporary, non-exempt employee

Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations within the East Texas service area.
