The job
The Service Manager will directly supervise and coordinate the activities of installers and service of Haarslev equipment.
You will report to the Director of After Sales and be a part of the After Sales Service team in North America.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Lead to increase the market for service work including further development and growth of Haarslev’s site support infrastructure
- Take emergency breakdown and scheduled service work orders
- Offer guidance to customers of necessary routine and/or preventative maintenance repairs based on technician’s reports
- Provide estimates of costs and quotes for service work requested by customers and customer care account representatives
- Review and approve field technician’s reports
- Create field service reports to send to customers
- Handle first level of customer complaint problems pertaining to service and repair work
- Supervise and control workload of service technicians, install supervisors, and job coordinators
- Schedule service work and assign service technicians and crews according to priority
- Maintain an orderly flow of work
- Work with project managers, schedules installation work, and assigns supervisor and crew according to priority and job schedule
- Assist in making travel arrangements, ordering rental equipment, and materials required for service jobs
- Review and sign off on technician’s time and expense reports and submit to accounting
- Maintain service history library
- Help service personnel diagnose the problem
- Maintain inventory on service and install equipment and tools, supplies and parts for service department
- Recommend if new tools will cut costs, speed up work, and/or provide safer working conditions
- Responsible for issuing purchase orders for the service department
- Work with service technicians and spare parts personnel to develop standard parts list templates for standard service jobs
- Splits weekend and holiday on-call coverage
- The Service Manager will report directly to the Commercial Services Business Manager
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering is preferred, or on-the-job experience in same field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in technical/machinery field
- Management experience required; same industry preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements necessary to work on job sites, plants, and must enforce and maintain safety according to Haarslev’s Safety Program
- Experience with MS Office
- Experience with AutoCad / Inventor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to obtain a class E license
- Experience with equipment installation
- Able to acquire a passport
