Summary

We are actively seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SQL Server and a strong foundation in AWS cloud services. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of SQL Server, proficiency in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), and knowledge of PostgreSQL. Additionally, experience with AWS services, including RDS, S3 buckets, EC2 instances, and familiarity with AWS Glue, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

1. SQL Server Database Administration:

  • Administer and optimize SQL Server databases hosted in the AWS cloud, ensuring peak performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for SQL Server deployments and configurations.

2. AWS Cloud Services:

  • Manage databases in AWS RDS, understanding the nuances of cloud-based database administration.
  • Utilize and configure AWS S3 buckets for scalable and secure data storage.
  • Work with EC2 instances as needed for specific database requirements.

3. Performance Tuning:

  • Develop and execute strategies for optimizing database and query performance.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through meticulous tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

4. PostgreSQL Knowledge:

  • Leverage knowledge of PostgreSQL to enhance database management capabilities.
  • Provide expertise in PostgreSQL as needed, contributing to the overall versatility of the DBA team.

5. SSIS Development and Maintenance (Nice to have):

  • Design, develop, and maintain SSIS/GLUE packages for efficient data integration, transformation, and loading.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize SSIS workflows to enhance data flow and ETL processes.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize AWS Glue jobs, ensuring seamless data flow between various sources and destinations.

6. Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security protocols for SQL Server and AWS environments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to database security.

7. Documentation and Collaboration:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, cloud services, and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, developers, and system administrators to support cloud-based applications and initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • Two-year or four-year college degree from a regionally accredited college or university preferred
  • Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator with a strong emphasis on AWS.
  • Experience in SSIS, SSRS, and Glue for ETL and reporting.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of AWS RDS, S3, EC2, and Glue services.
  • Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to a dynamic cloud environment.
  • Experience working in an Agile-based environment
  • Experience in a SOC 2 Type II certified environment
  • Experience working with JIRA and Confluence
  • Understanding of and discipline to follow rigorous IT data and systems policies
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and achieve objectives and deadlines
