Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing employee relations matters, ensuring a positive work environment, and promoting a culture of fairness and consistency. You will handle employee concerns, conduct investigations, and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Relations:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to employees and managers.
    • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
    • Develop and implement employee relations strategies to promote a positive work environment.
  • Policy and Procedure Management:

    • Ensure consistent application and adherence to company policies, procedures, and employment laws.
    • Assist in the development and updating of HR policies and procedures.
    • Educate employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conflict Resolution:

    • Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees and between employees and management.
    • Provide coaching and counseling to employees and managers to address performance and behavioral issues.
    • Recommend and implement solutions to resolve workplace conflicts and improve employee relations.
  • Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases and investigations.
    • Prepare and present reports on employee relations trends, issues, and resolutions to senior management.
  • Training and Development:

    • Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations, conflict resolution, and HR policies.
    • Provide guidance and support to managers on performance management and employee development.
    • Assist in the design and implementation of employee engagement initiatives.
  • HR Support:

    • Collaborate with HR team members on various HR projects and initiatives.
    • Support the recruitment and onboarding process by providing guidance on employee relations matters.
    • Participate in exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in employee relations or a related HR role.
    • Proven experience in conducting investigations and resolving employee issues.
    • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
    • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other company locations or events.
  • May require working extended hours to address urgent employee relations issues.
